Rider Updates

Me and some of my friends went to Blackwell, Oklahoma(which is located 15 minutes from Ponca City)to ride on a trail. It took us 40 minutes just to find it. We had to follow directions that weren't even on a map. Just instructions like, look for a tree that doesn't belong, and look for junk on the side of the road. When we finally found the place. We unloaded the bikes and went down to start riding. The place looked like an ocean. There was sand and a long, wide stream of water. We rode around in the sand for a little bit. Some of us were getting into 5th Gear and weren't sliding around at all. We decided to cross the water and see if anything was across it. The oldest of us crossed first. When he got about half way we descovered that the water was about 4 feet deep. His bike stopped and he walked it the other half of the way. Me and one of my friends went second. We thought that if we went in 1st gear,we would have enough rpm's to make it across. Boy were we wrong. We barely made it half way and we had to walk out bikes across the other side. The last person was kind of freaked out about trying to go across(he has only been riding since Christmas). He decided to go over it in 3rd Gear. So he gunned it and we all thought that he was going to make it. Just when he was about to make it. He ran into a hole in the water. He flipped over the bike and flew over the handlebars into the water. He was so scared of drowning that he rose up immediately and pushed the bike to the other side. We all wished we had a video camera with us. The wipeout was priceless. When we got all the bikes out of the water. We could only get one of the bikes started up again. So we loaded back up and took the bikes back to Ponca. We went back to Jimmy's house and started working on the bikes. We tilted the bike upside down and over 2 gallons of water came out of the exhaust. None of us knew how to fix it because none of us have ever rode threw water that deep before. We tried new spark plugs, and

OK, I went to the track on Sunday with some of my friends and we met a guy named Kirby. I've only seen him once before at the track. The last time I saw him was the first time I ever went to a track period. The guy is crazy. He was doing no-footers and heel clickers on one of the jumps. I talked to some of his friends and they said that he was sponsored by Mike Duran Racing(one of the motocross dealers in Ponca). I went out there to see if I could keep up with him. I passed him on the long straight away, but he passed me right when I came out from under the bridge. The next lap we both were side to side all down the straight away. I let him pass me because I could tell that he was just trying to see how good I was. I bet he can run around 2 minutes flat. He was probably running around 2:10 a lap. He really could go faster, but he only had a helmet on and he was riding his friends bike. I tell ya, I know some crazy people from Ponca, but he is by far the craziest rider I have scene that does not enter the Nationals. Speaking of the Nationals, they are from July 23-29th just in case you guys that are reading this want to come down and watch. All of the big names will be there, Nico, Politelli, Cunningham, they'll all be here.

Well, I have been going to Ponca's track(yes it is open when they're not having the nationals)and I don't think I'm doing that bad for a rookie. My time is 2:10 per lap. Not bad for someone who has been riding for not even 3 years. My dad isn't doing bad for a man in his 40s. He just got a new 05 RM-Z 250 for Christmas and even with backpains he is still running right under 2:30. Just in case there are sponsors reading this there is a big possibility that I WILL be racing all over Oklahoma very soon.(ok maybe after I get around 2:05, but that should be sooner)I am usually at the track every weekend, but I have been busy doing homework so I haven't been out there in about 3 weeks, but if you come down to practice or just to have fun doing what you love to do, I hope to see you there.

My first moto started off terribly.I gave the bike to much gas out of the holeshot and the bike popped a wheelie and died.I had to start the bike and try and catch up to the other racers.By the end of the first moto I was able to pass 5 racers.I passed 3 of them on the same spot. There is a big step-up and right after it there is a turn which leads to a long straight away. All the beginner riders took the outside of the turn. All I had to do was take the inside lane at 3rd Gear and was able to just fly past them.My 2nd Moto started off alot worse.I tried to start out of the holeshot to soon and got my back tire stuck in the gates.By the time I got out of the gate everyone else was around the first turn. That was was alot harder because none of the beginner riders made the same mistake twice.I was able to pass 2 riders in that race.I still came in 15th overall even though I had 2 terrible starts, but hey, that happens sometimes.

The biggest day of my young career has finally come, my first race. I was pumped up(ok, not when I first woke up). I had to wake up 5:00 in the morning to load up my bike and go to Cooperland. For those who don't know what Cooperland is, let me tell you. It is about 40 miles away from Ponca City(where I live). The track is in Stillwater. It is also 5 miles from Kenny Bartram's house. When I got there me and my dad unloaded the bike and walked around the track to see what kind of shape it was in. We found some of my friends that also race. They race in the 125 beginner class. Anyway they had 2 10 minute practice runs before they actually started the races. I was in race #4. When I went up to the gate I met a kid by the name of A.J. Rhea. He had never raced before. When the guy lowered the gate I was about 5th from last place. I did pretty good for a while until on the 2nd to last lap I wrecked going around a sharp corner. I got up and ended 16th. I really don't think I did that bad for someone who has never raced before and wrecked all in the same race. My friends were just happy I walked away with a finish. They ended up with in 18th place and 7th place, but they have alot more experience riding.
