Personal History

My name is Zak, I am almost 8 years old. I live with my Mom and Dad in Akron, Ohio. I have a little sister Kendal, she is a Strider Bike rider. I have been learning how to play the drums from my Dad. I have played in my school talent shows. For Christmas in 2014, my Mom and Dad surprised me with my 1st dirt bike. A Kawasaki 50. I didn't know anything about them. My first thought was, oh no I'm going to kill myself on this!! It's been a fun year learning how to ride. I got my Honda 50 for Easter. We are hoping to get a senior bike this summer. My Honda is doing the best it can to keep up with the faster riders.

Riding Goals

Finding tracks to ride in Ohio is very hard. The main place we go to is a 2 hour drive. While practicing there last April, I suffered a concussion. I was coming up over a tabletop and caught a rut and it tossed me off my bike. Before I could get up another rider hit me, knocking me out for 3 minutes. After having to take 3 months off, I've come back stronger than ever. My accident as taught me a lot about safety and paying close attention. With only a few races under my belt I am finally getting the taste of racing. The excitment of the gate dropping and taking off, the feeling of passing another rider. I still have a lot I want and need to learn. I am hoping to take some lessons and get as many races under my belt as I can. My family has even planned our vacation around racing this year. We got a new tent and sleeping bags. I can't wait!!

Competitive Highlights

At my first race for the 2016 season, I was the last bike out of the gate. After 5 laps I had moved into 5th place. I kept telling myself, you can do this Zak, you can pass this guy! I fought him all the way to the last turn, I took the inside and I passed him! Just in time to take the 4th place spot. This was the first race that I actually fought for the trophy rather than it being given just for participation. It felt so goodl!
