Personal History

My name is Zachary Frey, I'm 21 years old and this is my second season racing the JDay off-road series. I was born and raised in the small town of Medway Massachusetts. My riding career started when I was under 10 years old and my dad brought home a 90cc quad. I quickly grew out of that and realized I wanted to ride dirtbikes. A year or so later I got my first dirt bike and quickly adjusted to the riding style. I've always love to ride from my house and see how far I can go weather it be down the power lines or finding a local sand pit to blast around in. A few years down the road a good friend of mine introduced me to the JDay off-road series. JDay offers 2 different series a sprint enduro which runs on Saturdays and the GP series that runs on sundays. My first year of racing I had a lot of learning today. The GP series is a 50 person maximum per line and it is a dead engine start. In the begining of my first year I started placing around 20th which made me feel pretty good for a first timer. As the season went on I started climbing towards the top. In the middle of the season I was finishing in the top 15 and by the end of the season I had made it to the 10th place spot to finish the season. With three rounds to go in the 2016 season I had a big crash and tore my acl. After having surgery in December and months of physical therapy I came back into the 2017 season feeling better then ever. With my new bike, a 2017 Yamaha YZ125,  and a reconstructed knee that I put hours of work into to get back to 100% I was ready to race. 2017 race season started and I was placing right back were I ended last season around 10th place. Half way thru the season I was now in the top ten and fighting towards the podium. I hope to continue moving forward as the season comes to a close with on 4 rounds to go.

Riding Goals

The 2016 race season opened my eyes to what I could make out of my racing career. To see that I improved each weekend and was working towards the top I was motivated to get better and faster. After my acl injury last October all I wanted to do was to get back on the bike. So that's what I did I worked hard, and ushed my self to get healthy and strong before the 2017 season. As the season started and is now coming to an end I have watched my self grow as an athlete and improve as a rider. Racing has given me so much motivation to better myself and as I better my self I better my riding. And my results are showing that. My goal is to keep pushing forward and to improve every weekend and to work hard on myself during the week.

Competitive Highlights

Since I've only been racing for 2 years I don't have many highlights. I do believe that the 2017 season has been a highlight in my life. Starting the season in the top ten and now more than halfway through the season I'm I've been creating the top 5 and in my latest race on September 24, 2017 I led my second moto until the last lap where I got bottled up with a few down riders and changing my line made me stumble but was able to hold a 4th place finish which put in in 6th overall on the day. Not to exciting of a highlight but see what I can do and knowing I can ride the pace I was only makes me want to improve more and keep moving forward.
