Personal History

My name is Zach O’Brien, and I am from Dickinson, ND. I started racing about 3 and a half years ago, but I’ve rode motorcycles my whole life and always had a passion for it. About 2 years ago we decided to take motocross serious and started working on my fitness and attended some short training camps. About a year ago is when we decided to train full time at Monster Mountain Training Academy for about 6-8 months out of the year. We continue to come home to ND to race during the summer and training in the winter with Shae Bentley and Kendall Mason.

Riding Goals

I initially started riding because it was just too fun not to, but I soon developed an obsession over it and I am constantly thinking about how I can be better. This year, my goal was to race at Loretta Lynn’s and battle for a top 10 spot. Unfortunately, my road to Loretta’s was cut short this year do to a last lap crash while leading my qualifier and putting me out for a while. This up and coming season I want to show what I can do in the C classes as I work myself up to the top classes. My family hasn’t decided fully yet what our schedule will be yet next year, whether we chase Loretta Lynn’s, or chase the pro nationals and race amateur days, we will be at many big races and get as much exposure to the industry as possible. My family also owns a small motorsports dealership, and it is also a goal I have to help grow and contribute to the business as much as I can.

Competitive Highlights

Though I had a late start to motocross being only year 3 and a half for me, I recently placed 2nd at the North Dakota state championship battling for the lead but falling just short of the #1 plate. Though I don’t have a lot of race results yet in my career, one of my proud achievements during my training with former sx champion Shae Bentley last year was exceeding my goals I had set for my riding in half the time. I also hold it proud to myself that my trainers Shae Bentley and Kendall Mason truly think I have what it takes to be successful and they push me to be my best.
