Personal History

I am a late bloomer in the motocross game. I have been a fan all my life and grew up with family members racing professionally.  I am active duty Navy, stationed at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. I am a Chief Petty Officer and am in charge of ensuring Air to Air and Air to Ground ordnance is loaded safely and correctly on F/A-18 Hornet aircraft. I have been in the Navy for 15 years and have been on 5 sea deployments on Aircraft Carriers, 4 of which have been major conflicts.

I have been married for 8 years and I have a step-son currently in college. I have 2 of the funniest dogs you have ever seen. One is a Laberdoodle and the other is an English Springer Spaniel mixed with something unknown. My wife is steadily coming around to the passion that I have for motocross and the time and energy that it takes. This is pretty much the reason I am a late bloomer, but I have her blessing now.

Riding Goals

My goals for the coming year are to make as many events as possible while being in a world wide deployable fighter squadron. We have District 13 races in western VA all the way to northern NC. The closest race is still over an hour and a half away, but with a race almost every weekend year around, I see myself making it to at least 15 events. I will be riding beginner because I have only been on a 450 for a few months. I upgraded from a CRF250R to the KX450F. I am confident that after mid summer 2010, I will feel comfortable enough to move up.

Competitive Highlights

Shortly after moving to the 450, I took a trip to Arkansas where I grew up and went riding with my cousin's husband. He took me to a race at Burnthill MX and I had my first 450 race. It was a blast. I was just happy to get seat time after the 1100 mile drive, but none the less, it was fun. I finished 3-2 for a third overall, but it re-lit my fire. I raced my CRF250R in 2005 at Elizabeth City MX but only got in one moto because my friend crashed and collapsed his lung and broke his ribs. So my second moto was me driving him to the hospital.

Although these are the only competitive events I have been in, my friends and I are able to ride on the weekends. Depending on our travel schedule for work, we can usually get 3 weekends a month of practice. We just returned from a deployment in April from Operation Enduring Freedom and we don't have much traveling scheduled for the warmer months. We are going to race every chance we get!
