Personal History

First off I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my bio.
Let's start with my name, I'm Wade Sprowl from Santa Barbara, CA and will be turning 38 this July!

I've been racing since I was 10 years old.  It's my life, as I think it is with anyone who becomes involved in it!

I raced as an amateur for a majority of my life and had the opportunity to get offered a Team Green ride when I was 14 but unfortunately that day I put on a performance of my short life at that time but also made the smallest mistake that turned into one of my bigger injuries.  I ended up shattering my knee, with that they stated they could not sign an injured rider but if not for the injury I would have been signed that day!

With those words in my head it made my more driven to heal faster so I could start training and racing again.  I had a goal of racing Supercross and Motocross by the time I turned 17.  The heat was on!  I made a miraculous recovery and was racing again within 9 months, in 12 months I was winning again.  My only problem was that my parents were very scared and hesitant about me racing again after what I just went through along with the fact that we had to drive 2 hours to get to the closest track to practice which was LACR at the time.  Thus I didn't have anyone to drive me to practice and race so I had to give it up until I could get my driver license.  By that time I was into mountain biking and doing other sports too, so MX got put on the back burner but was never out of my mind.

I came back about 5 years later and in about 2-3 years I started racing local pro and raced the west coast four stroke nationals.  With having to work and the cost of racing along with more and more injuries I had to take another hiatus from the sport I love the most.

I had some serious injuries in 06-10 that required me to finally get neck surgery.  I had the operation in April of 2011 and took 2 years off to heal and I've been riding again and want to start racing as well but with keeping everything fun and competitive all at the same time.  With my time off I have realized that the sport is more expensive than ever but it's worth it 110%.

So I would be thankful for any help you and your company is willing to provide.  I promise to be a great ambassador of your products at all times!!!

Many thanks,
Wade Sprowl

Riding Goals

This summer was up and down with my business being very busy along with multiple visits to multiple doctors regarding my right knee that I shattered when I was 15.  Finally saw a specialist that had my own health in both our best interests.

I leave for NYC in just under 2 weeks and when I get back I'm going back to having fun riding and being more serious about racing.  I would like to start racing the Saturday REM races to get my feet wet and then get back into all the big events that are out there.along with doing some SRA grand prix races in southern, mid and northern California.  It's been a long time so I'll start back in the intermediate class and then move back up to the expert/pro class.

I'm excited for this up coming year as it's been a long time since I've raced for fun but we all know that "for fun" means "for the win".  I pairing up with an old raced turned trainer who's worked at Platinum fitness who's trained Lance Armstrong and recently Chad Reed has sought out their help in the least couple of seasons.  Granted I won't be going at it like either of those two athletes but I will be giving it all my time, dedication and passion to see what I can make out of it.

I work beyond full time so and with running a business and coming home to a family will make it tough but that's all the better for me.  I promise to not let anyone down who is willing to take the time to help an aged racer get back into the best sport there is!  I will be an ambassador for your company and products if your willing to take a chance on helping the old slogan that hard work do make dreams come true!!

Many Thanks,

Wade (Grenade) Sprowl

Competitive Highlights

Through my career I've had many highlights!  I would have to say that meeting Adam Booth with Dirt Rider while he was at Dirt Bike magazine and becoming a part of their test crew and racing teams for the 6/12/24 hour endurance races along with some races in Mexico were some toppers on my list.
