Personal History

My name is Vincent Ficco, I’m 16 years old, I grew up and currently live on a small cattle ranch in the Elizabeth, CO, with my parents and sister.  I truly love the cowboy life and the experiences it has given me. I grew up riding horses, four-wheelers and summers on the lake. I spend most of my time helping work the cows and fixing fences, when I’m not in school, tinkering on my bike or on the track.  I got my first bike at the age of 6.  I rode around the ranch but didn’t get into the actual sport of racing until I was about 15.  I played ice hockey for several years before I got into racing.  I loved hockey but my heart was always set on racing.  It was convincing my parents to let me get into the sport.  Once I started racing there was no looking back, I knew it was my passion and where I belonged.  My great uncle use to race and he has always encouraged me to race.  I loved listen to his stories and now that I’m racing he has been such a mentor to me.  I admire him and hope to be as good as he was and make him proud.  The people at the track are amazing, everyone is so nice and always leaning a helping hand.  It is like a second family that I get to spend my weekends with.  There is no drama between me and the people I race with, this was a big change compared to hockey.  We all respect each other and encourage each other to be better and better.  I enjoy having my family there to watch and help me grow. I have a younger sister that I’m trying to get to race as well.  She attends all my races and once in a while I can convince her to participate in a pit bike race.  My biggest supports are my parents and my grandpa.  When he found out I started to race he was the one that found a race trailer for me.  He wanted me to have something special, a place to keep all my stuff that was just mine.  He shows up to most of my races, and if he can’t make it he always calls to check and see how it went.  Im blessed with a wonderful family and the support of them to allow me to race.

Riding Goals

My goal is to become the best racer I can be, pushing myself harder each time. I started racing about 2 years ago, the first year I only attend a few races.  I took it easy as I was just learning and just taking my time to truly learn the sport.  Last year was my first solid year of racing, I enjoyed every minute of it, from the racing to the forever friends I made.  My goal is to move up to the B class by the end of this season and be in the top 3 (hopefully top 2) of my class this year.  I would also love to qualify for Loretta Lynn this year.   I’m working on getting physical stronger and being able to keep my stamina up during the race. With lots of training and being on my bike all the time I think these are goals that I can accomplish.

Competitive Highlights

I’m consider myself to be a very competitive racer.  I always try to be the first off the line and take the whole shot. I’m always pushing to catch the guy in front of me and then the next guy after him.  If I make a mistake or wrong move, I move forward and push hard to not do it again and conquer my challenges.  I had a pretty bad wreck this year that busted my helmet, split my tongue in half and messed my jaw up pretty bad.  This was just a few weeks back and I already can’t wait to be back on the track.  Last season (which was my first full season) I starter with placing in the last few.  By the end of the season I was placing around the top 15 riders out of 40ish racers.  In SX I finished in the top 5.  I think this shows that I have passion and drive to grow and improve myself.
