Personal History
My name is Tyler Kuntz and I have been racing motocross since I was 5 years old. My dad starting racing when he was around 20 and he got me a bike as soon as I could ride a bicycle. It was a PW-50 and I fell in love on the first ride. It started off by just having fun riding in-between my dad’s rides. Then I started doing some races. I actually started to win quite a bit in the 5-7 class so we started to take it bit more serious. When I go to 85’s is when my dad stoped riding and we started to really put all of our effort into racing. We were traveling to Texas/Oklahoma almost every weekend because there was so much more completion and better tracks compared to Colorado. When I turned 18 I had to make the decision to keep focusing on racing and try to go pro, or go to college. I decided to got to college and I got my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Colorado State University. So I still race and take it seriously but it is more of just a hobby now.
Riding Goals
At this point in my career my goals aren’t as ambitious as they use to be. My main goal is to win a pro class championship here in Colorado. I have been consistently in they top 5 so I know I can do it. Another goal is to make it to Loretta Lynn’s in the pro class. I was 2 spots away from making it in the 250 Pro class a few years ago.
Competitive Highlights
My biggest competitive highlights have definitely been making it to Loretta Lynn’s twice. I made it in 2009 in the Supermini 2 class finishing 28th. I then made it again in 2011 in the 250 B Mod class finishing 26th and the Collegeboy class finishing 28th.
Another accomplishment I am proud of is finishing 10th place at Mammoth Mountain MX in the 85 14-16 class in 2008.
Other highlights include winning multiple Colorado motocross championships in various classes.
