Personal History
My name is Ty Pompey, I am almost 16. I am from a small town in Ohio. Growing up as a little kid I fell in love with the outdoors. I went fishing for the first time with my grandpa when I was 4. To this very day I still go to the lake with him. As I grew a little older I discovered hunting. I sat in a tree stand with my eldest brother when I was 6 for the first time. I fell in love with that as well. My favorite part of hunting though was getting to drive the quad through the woods. I asked for a quad. My stepdad races dirt cars therefore they put me in a go kart for a year or 2.
My Very First Time In The Go Kart:
Mom: "Go easy!"
Me: "Okay mom!"
I went out there and rolled it 12 minutes later after ripping up the entire yard. Most kids would have been crying. I got up and started laughing and asked if I could go do it again. They laughed at me and sent me back out for another go.
A few years later, I saw Supercross for the very first time! I asked for a dirt bike. For my birthday they bought me a CRF 150r. Being only 9 I couldn't touch the ground i crashed a lot! I loved it though!
The following year I sold the bike to get a dirt go kart. They go about 60-70 mph. My very first race i went out against 13 and 14 year olds that have been racing these since they were 9. I half tracked them and won my very first race.
Two years my brother decided to start racing quads in the GNCC series. I sold my kart and bought a 400ex and started riding with him. I had a blast! He eventually moved away and I was devastated . I rode by myself but it was boring.
When I was almost 14 I sold my quad. Going to school the next year a few of my friends raced dirt bikes and then I of course wanted one again! I bought a KX250 2 stoke. Ever since then I have been riding 3 to 4 times every week. On the weekends, we all get together and familiarize ourselves with our bikes. We become more comfortable making passes and pushing ourselves to the limits.
Riding Goals
I want to become a better rider everyday. I am racing my first harescramble the 24th of this month at one of the hardest tracks in Ohio at Lightning Raceway. My goals for this year are to finish top 10 overall in atleast three races and win my class as many times as possible.
