Personal History
My mom purchased my first dirt bike, I wasn't quit 4 yet. Soon after I attended the World Minis. I grew up in rural Northern California where I had access to hundreds of miles of great single track and could be in the high desert within 30 minutes. I currently work for an engineering company running heavy equipment and work 60 hours a week.
On June 28, 2015 I suffered a near life changing motocross accident. My bike died going off a 110' ramp to ramp jump. I jumped off my bike falling 35' landing on my butt. I was told by the neurologists that I would probably never walk again. I underwent 10+ hours of back surgeries, inserting rods and replacing my burst fractured L1 with a cage. After several weeks in the local hospital I was transferred to Craig Hospital in Denver Colorado to continue my rehab. Fast forward 9 months. I enter my first race since my back injury, thanks for motivating me, telling me I probably wont walk again. I win the D36 Pro class Cross Country race and then a month later take the OA at the Virginia City Grand Prix outlasting Travis Coy and Ty Tremaine during the 4 1/2 hour race.
Many people say I'm stupid for continuing to ride, let alone race. For me, there is no life without my bike. Its what I do, it's what I love!!
I pray Jessy Nelson will have the same outcome.
