Personal History

My name is Tristan Weilacher and I’m 16 years old and in the 10th grade. Unlike most kids, I spent my early childhood doing speech therapy, occupational therapy and cranial sacral therapy. My speech was so bad that I could not be understood until I was in the second grade. I had visual perception disorder and no fine motor skills. But my mom noticed that I like to flip and be upside down. She put me in gymnastics and I loved it. I joined the competitive gymnastics team and started traveling all over the western part of the United States. I competed for 8 years and competed in the first ever Westerns Championship in April 2022 in Reno, NV.

But when I was four, my parents bought me my first dirt bike, a TTR 50 with training wheels. I rode it around in the fields and had fun. When I was seven, I then got a TTR110. My mom would take me up to the mountains to ride trails. I found a couple jumps and that's where I really started to enjoy riding. I then got a YZ85 and that’s when it all changed. I asked to go to a track. I went a couple of times and I couldn’t get enough. I took my first lesson in October 2021 and then it started snowing. As soon as I finished Westerns in gymnastics that next April, my mom started taking me to the track every week. And that Christmas, my dad got me a KTM 85 and I couldn’t wait to get on the track.

Since then, I've really invested my time and efforts into training, on and off the track. I am currently full time training at SwanMX with MXUniversity. I've also trained with a few other facilities, but have settled at SwanMX. I train four days a week, but when I'm off the track, I do CrossFit five days a week. I started online schooling last year so that I can have the freedom to train during the day. My day consists of bike maintenance and cleaning, riding, working out, school and sleep. I am truly grateful for the opportunity my parents have given me.

Riding Goals

I ride because there is nothing else like it. I love the feeling of being on my dirtbike and being at the track. I love the friends that I have made at the tracks and races.

We finally made the move to SwanMX for full time training and living at the track. I really enjoy working with a mechanic there where I've learned so much and apply it to my bike maintenance every day, making sure that I keep my bikes in top running condition. I love helping the other riders work on their bikes also. I also love the feeling of competing in a race and feeling the adrenaline before every moto at the gates.

My goal for 2025 is to attend training consistently and to improve skills needed to be competitive at a national level. A huge goal would be to qualify for Loretta's. I also want to train consistently at the gym so that I can improve on my strength and cardiovascular fitness.

For 2026, my goal is to qualify for Loretta's and be competitive at Loretta's. I will still be at a training facility and still working hard every day to improve riding to be competitive.
