Personal History

Trey is my 7 year old son. Since he was a baby, if a bike was close or if I was watching the races on tv, he would be rite there. I started him riding when he was 4. He started on a Suzuki JR50, then moved up to a KTM Pro Jr 50 cause the little Suzuki didn't have enough suspension or speed for him. I have recently bought him a Cobra King50. And he is very excited about racing it in the up coming season.

He raced a couple of races on the Suzuki, but of course didn't do to well since it would not keep up with the faster bikes. Since he has been racing the KTM locally, his avarage finishes are 4th and 5th in the bigger races, with a couple of 2nds and 1st when the compitition is around 5 riders or less. Once agian, it is mainly cause he was out biked or mechanical problems. He has had his fair share of hard wrecks, but has enough determination to get jump back on and twist it again.

I myself love to race as well, but only race at the smaller events, so that I can coach and mechanic on his bike at the bigger races. I raced 3 wheelers as a kid and have had the love of the sport the same way as him. I didn't get to carry on any type of race career as a child (except one year when I took 3rd overall) and would like to give him every chance that he is willing to take to see how far he can take it.

I am a widowed father of three, so the coast of riding gear, safety gear, parts, and the gas just to get to the races is a very hard balancing act. So, any help for a kid and his dad that wants to keep this sport alive, is always greatly appriciated.

Riding Goals

Our main goal is to make it to Ponca City for this next season. For it being his first major race, we are looking to make the top 15.

He already actually corners fairly well, but are going to work on more speed all the way thru the corners.

Going to work on bigger jumps now that he has a bike with a better suspension.

Competitive Highlights

He is usually very good holeshoter. He has taken the holeshot against 65's and 85's.

His last arena cross, we had trouble with his bike all night long. Luckly, they let all of his class into the main event, so we got a break. But the class had 19 riders and only 15 gates, and with our luck in the qualifiers, he was on the back row on the gates (And on a Jr bike in a Sr class). After the first lap, he had already made his way into the top ten. The end of the second lap, he had made it into 6th and was gaining on 5th, BUT the bike problems hadn't left and it died in the middle of the woops and would not restart. I believe he had done quite well for being way out biked (racing agianst Cobras), and the starting position he had to deal with.

The last race we entered was a Hare Scramble. We had to borrow a bike for Trey to race, cause his Cobra motor wasn't back yet and the KTM is still having a major problem! So he had to race against KTM Seniors on a little Honda CRF 50. Suprisingly, he did not stay to far behind and actually won because the KTM infront of him broke his chain at the last of the race.
