Personal History
Hello Sponors,
I am a forty year old husband and father of three great kids. My wife is a stay at home mom investing many hours into our kids. My kids are involved in sports including...volleyball, basketball, swimming, skiing, gymnastics, and soccer. Our family is a typical mid western family. In the Summer, we enjoy outdoor activities, grilling with friends, and family trips. In the Winter, we do the same but inside!
I am a small business owner of a landscape design/build company that I started twenty three year ago. My formal background is in accounting but went another way in my business life. I enjoy working with people, problem solving, designing landscapes and oversee the implementation of those ideas.
At thirty five, a friend asked if I wanted to buy a bike and start trail riding. After a five months of trail riding, I did my first hare scramble. From that point on, I was hooked on racing. The competition, rush, and physical demand on the body was a big stress reliever. Today, I race for many reasons. I have made some good friends and enjoy racing with them. I still enjoy the competition, the thrill, single track, pushing myself to do the best I can and set goals to attain.
In 2012, I started XC riding mountain bikes. I competed in a few XC races and really enjoyed it. This year I am going to ride a series and compete in the over 40 single speed class. That's right, one gear one rider. I really like the physical demand of the sport on the body. The XC racing is harder on you mentally than the motorcycle racing too.
Riding Goals
At this point in my life, my racing goals are pretty simple. At every local, regional, and national race, I want to give 100 percent effort, race in control limiting injuries to others and myself, have fun, bring a well prepped, finish each race, try to win and be ok with my finishing position.
For 2013, I am going to race AA class. I promoted myself to this expert class this year because I want to race for overall all wins. I have had success in racing different classes over the years. Its time to challlange myself again. Plus, I am tired of giving these kids ahead start off the start line!!
