Personal History
I started riding in 1977 on a Kawasaki KD 125, and I rode the wheels off the bike and then in 1979 I bought a real moto-cross bike, a used 1978 Suzuki RM 125. In 1981 I saved enough money to get a new bike and started racing on 1981 Honda CR 250. My first race was in June of 1981 at Mora, MN. I did OK and was hooked. I raced when I could afford to and ended up quitting to go to school in 1983. In 1987 I bought myself a used 1986 Honda CR 500 and started racing again. I raced off and on for the next six years.
In 1994, at 30 years old, I decided I wanted to do well at racing and started to train and race consistently. My results improved drastically and I won both Vet C motos my first race of the season, I also won the +25 C overall. At the end of the year I was advanced to the Intermediate class for the next season. I raced +25 B and Vet B for the next four years and advanced to the Expert class in 1998. In the next five years I raced the +25 A and Vet A class consistently and have finished in the top 20 in Vet A four of the last five years. In 2000 I finished 7th and in 2002 I finished 8th in the Vet A.
I always have a positive attitude and really enjoy racing. If people ask me about what products to use I always suggest the products that I use on my bike and explain the benefits of those products.
Riding Goals
I plan to continue racing the +40 A and +45 A classes and do the best that I can and most of all have some fun doing it. My goals for next season are to finish in the top ten in both the +45 A and +40 A classes in District 23, top five in the +45 A and +40 A classes in the Millville Super Series.
Competitive Highlights
Winning the Vet A class overall at Staples, MN in 2000 and winning the Senior A class at Grantsburg, WI in 2004 are a couple of my best races. The win at Grantsburg was really special because I had back surgery in March of 2004 and wasn't really having a good year of riding up until that race.
