Personal History
Hello my name is Tanner Wilson. I am 20 years old and I was born and raised in Boone, North Carolina. Racing has always been a part of my life, growing up I would spend the weekends watching my Dad race dirt late models and when I became interested in racing in 1998 at the age of 6, I got my first dirt bike Christmas morning and racing has been my passion ever since. Racing wasn't the only sport I competed in growing up, I also played football all through out my youth and school years and in 2006 competed in Loretta Lynn's. Entering high school, I stepped away from racing to play football. I lettered 3 years and received an All Conference award my senior year. After graduating from Watauga High School, I played college football at Appalachian State University where we won a sixth consecutive conference title. After college in February 2011, I started back racing as well as starting my own welding business 'Wilson Welding and Fabrication.'
Riding Goals
My main goal in riding has always been to never remain at the same level. I want to see improvement each and every week through riding and training. for the rest of the 2012 season I want to become a consistent threat in the 450A/Pro class. I would like to run some Arenacross and Indoor motocross this winter and maintain my fitness through the winter months. Before the next outdoor season I would also like to be competing in the 250A/Pro class. This past year I wasn't able to try for Loretta's because of financial reasons but next year this will be one of my biggest priorities.
Competitive Highlights
One of my biggest highlights this past year was the Suzuki Top Gun Showdown where I won 6 of the 8 races that weekend. For me every weekend that I get to race in the Pro Class is a highlight because it has always been a dream of mine. Another one of my highlights is Loretta Lynn's 2006 where I finished 8th in 125C stock and 9th in 125C mod.
