Personal History
My name is Tamron McCloud and I'm 13 yrs old. This was my first year to race dirt bikes; heck my first year to ride a bike and I believe I have found what I was born to do......Race!!! I was diagones with Type 1 diabetes when I was 9. I would like to set an example for other kids with diabeties, that this illness does not controll our lives. I want to show them that we can live a full, fun, and very active childhood. I want to let them know that we are able to participate and pursue any sport we desire. I have played football for 4 years and race dirt bikes for 1 year. My diabetes has not been affected by these sports nor has it ever kept me from competing. This year I raced with the OCCRA (Oklahoma Cross Country Racing Association) in the 65 class. Shortly after the race season began I was moved from the begginers to the advance class within just 4 races. I have places top 5 in 9 out of 12 races and finished the season in 4th place overall out of 12 riders. I consider that to be a pretty big accomplishment considering I have never raced before.
It is just me, my mom and my older brother, I know this is an extreamly expensive sport and I have worked hard and continue to work hard to help lighten to load for my mom. I have save money from birthdays, christmas, odd summer jobs etc. to buy both of my bikes, pay for entery fees, parts etc. I know that my mom can not afford this on her own and appreciate everything she has sacraficed for me to race this year. That is why everytime I race, I put it all out there.
Riding Goals
As I move up to the 85 class I hope to obtain sponsorship for the 2012 race season. To do my best on and off the track and to be a role modle for other riders and kids in general.
Competitive Highlights
Second race of the season I was in the "B" class which starts 30 seconds behine the "A" class. By the second lap of the race I was lapping the "A" class riders and finished 1st.
