Personal History
I am venturing into 'old lady' age. But I am addicted to my motorcycles. My family and I spend a lot of time together riding our dirt bikes. My daughter is my best riding buddy. She goes with me to every race and every training session. She is really starting to show promise. The best part of motocross is the time that she and I spend together. It doesn't matter if we are training, racing, or just goofing around. Our time together is priceless.
Our season doesn't end when the snow flies. We take our trusty steeds, stud the tires and hit the ice. Some of the best training is out on a frozen lake. Of course the fun factor is over the top! Our family time revolves around these bikes 12 months a year!
Riding Goals
2008 was yet another learning year for me. I upgraded my bike to a 2007 YZ250F. I love the Factory Connection suspension. It really helps to put the wheels to the ground and makes jumping so....easy. I now need to focus on turning my brain off and working on the S.M.A.R.T. goals that my coach, Brad Jerominski, and I have developed.
This winter is not going to be a vacation from the bike. With ice just around the corner I will still be working on technique and striving for perfection. The ice tracks are perfect for practicing corners and getting through the choppy areas. Ice braking bumps are like no other! Racing is still going to happen for me. I am planning to race in two endurance races this winter. I am really hoping to put together an all girl racing team for the Steel Shoe Benefit this year. On the off days, I am fortunate to have access to an indoor facility. The plan is for at least once a month trying to hit the dirt inside while the snow flies outside.
My ultimate goal is to be able to make Loretta's in 2013. In 2009 I am looking to make my regional qualifier. That will be nice step towards my ultimate goal. Racing at my home track, I am aiming to make podium finishes every month in 2009. I am also considering district 16 points. But I will not confirm that until I see the next schedule. Time driving is time away from training.
Competitive Highlights
My second place finish in the Senior Nationals in 2008 is my best MX finish to date.
My other noteworthy success was finishing all three motos at my first Loretta Lynn's Regional Qualifier in June of 2008.
To most this may not be a highlight, but to me it is one of the single greatest moments in my racing career. One day when I was still racing mini-moto, in between races, a little girl (about 9-10 years old) approaches me with a huge smile. She asked me if I raced the motorcycles. When I said yes she got REALLY excited. With her eyes shining she told me she would be rooting for me. It was such an awesome moment for me. It hasn`t been about winning, but showing these young ladies that we can be out there too!! I love the idea that I am role modeling for the girls that watch me. It`s even better to see that I can inspire them.
