Personal History
My name is Stuart Edmonds, I was born in Dublin, Ireland on the 07/05/88 and I am 20 years of age, I was basically born into the motorcycle industry with my father competing and brought me along to the bikes from the moment I was born I started riding my 1st bike when I was 4 and have not looked back since I tasted my first bit of adrenalin then and have loved the sport ever since. I was not allowed race my bike till I was 8 which was late because you are allowed start when you are 5 but my dad felt I was only on my bike for the joy he didn’t see a competitive streak in me till one day I told him I wanted to race and I raced my first race in an old track down in Naas where I placed 5th.
I have slowly came up the ranks and started to win southern race’s then Irish race’s where it became that I could not race in Ireland as no one was in my league so I had to start racing abroad which was hard for my mum and dad to fund but as mother and father do they always find a way. I did all kinds of sports from GAA to, basket ball roller blading, skate boarding, BMX which I still do for fun but nothing could keep me away from my bikes the weekends all these sports would go out the window and bikes would come into mind Friday through to Monday mourning when I had to go back to school. In the last 4 years I have became very competitive with the sport I finished my leaving cert and went on to becoming a coach for the sport and to make this my job to ride bikes for a living and to do better in the sport than any Irish rider has been to push myself to the limits and be the best so my life now revolves around racing motocross and training during the week.
Riding Goals
Plans for 2010
RECAP: This year has been a brilliant year but at the same time disappointing year for me. Some championships went according to the plan and some have not. I have done everything I wanted to do which includes raced and finished top 15 in the British championship, won both Irish championships, raced in a world championship abroad and got picked to ride for my country for the 4th year in a row. All my goals this year have came through from achieving what I wanted as well as bettering myself.
2010:
My plans for next year are to race more in the UK and abroad than be in Ireland but also I am going to defend my Irish title if nothing clash’s. The championships will be the main ACU British championship, Redbull British nationals championship, British open championship, Also as much events in Ireland I can attend and as well as a few world championship rounds abroad dependent on my sponsorship funds as they cost a lot of money to enter let alone travel and for my team to get my bikes over there.
Winter training is a big thing to get yourself conditioned for race season in March you need to be bike fit, I could be the fittest man in the gym but when I get on my bike it is a completely different kind of fitness and in order for me to better myself for 2010 I need to spend at least two months abroad training January February which will be in America, Belgium and Spain but yet again all depends if I receive enough sponsorship to do so.
