Personal History

I am a 56-year-old father of 4 and have one granddaughter. I love outdoor sports, but riding dirt bikes is my passion. I started at the ripe old age of 49 and ride every weekend with friends and with fellow competitors until it starts to snow. Then I take out my snow skis and hit the slopes with my daughter. I prefer to ride and race in the woods, GNCC style and enduros, with my two 300 KTMs but love to practice MX on groomed tracks on my 250 KX every chance I get (when I’m not racing).

Riding Goals

I was late to riding off road motorcycles since I did not grow up with anyone that rode. Moved to Indiana and my neighbor bought his teenaged son a CR150 so I bought a 2005 KX250 to ride with him. I fell in love with riding immediately. So much, that I sold my boat to buy better motorcycles and to travel to different states to find new challenges and places to ride every year, for the last five years. I started to take racing seriously two years ago. I finished second overall in my class @ MWXC racing this year and aim to take first place next year. In addition, I plan on competing in several enduro and cross-country racing events next year including Ironman GNCC race in Indiana.

Competitive Highlights

When I started riding 6 years ago, I tried to race in local cross-country events and quickly realized I was over my head. Last year, I felt I had made enough progress to compete, so I started racing in IXCR, MWXC, and several enduro events. I raced the Summer Bummer hare scramble in 50 B/C class and got my first podium (second place) which gave me some motivation. Ended up with a 3rd place podium and fourth overall in the 50 C class at MWXC and 23rd overall in points for the AM division (all am bikes).  This year, I took second overall in the 50 C class at MWXC along with two 1st place wins, one 2nd place podium and two 3rd place podiums.
