Personal History

Started riding in 1978. Loved the feeling of being one with the bike and having the support from family and friends. We come from a poor farming community so it was actually looked down upon when I would tell people what I did every weekend. As I found more tracks and became better at the sport most accepted it. It was something that my family loved to do. I grew up quick and found myself on a 125 by the time I was 13. Struggled to stay at a weight of 170 and participating in High School football I come to the conclusion that I needed to make a change. I didn't have the money to go up in a class to the 250 or 500 so I stopped racing and focused on school and football. I graduated high school and had a chance to play some college football as a walk on. During my first year of college I had a bad knee injury.  While recovering from the knee injury I made a choice to stop school and go to work once my knee healed.  In 1994 I was self sustaining my bills and yearned to ride MX again. So I bought a CR 250 and started practicing 3 times a week. In 6 months I was in decent shape. I started racing the 250 B class. Entered a few fall series and winter series ending 1994. During early winter I purchased a 1995 CR 250 & CR 500. I rode the 250 B class, Open B class and +25 class.  Winning a few series and very competitive at all the AMA events on the east coast.  My son was born in December of 1994. I rode the next year every chance I could. I started running the 250 A and Open A during the Winter of 1995. I was doing very well. Until I had to make a decision if I wanted to keep my marriage. I decided that my family was more important. So I stopped racing to spend more time with them. I started training some kids that lived near me. They both were on 80's am class. Still having all my race contacts but not the time to practice or work out. I still wanted to be a part of MX racing. So I took on training these boys at my house and going to selected races. The oldest boy quit when he was 16. the week before he was to turn pro. the youngest boy turned pro when he was 17 and is still racing today. Once the youngest boy (Cris) stopped at the age of 18. I focused on my son's football passion. During that time I stepped away from MX. I was presented an opportunity to train a good B rider and prepare him for Loretta's. I did that through the year of  2006-2007.  Josh was not focused on practicing the way I thought he should so I parted ways with that team. Later in the year of 2007 I started coaching football to help my sons league out. I coached football all the way to his senior year in high school. And yet again I find myself yearning to ride a Motorcycle at the age of 46 years old.

Riding Goals

I would like to start back in the plus 40 class until i get in enough shape to start the 450 B class. There are multiple practice tracks near my house and my goal is to practice three times a week and for starters at least racing one day per weekend. In November of 2016 I weighed in at 320 pounds and since then I have started a new diet and begun working out again. As of this week in May of 2017 I weighed in at 265 pounds. But this is only just the beginning, my ultimate goal is to be down to 200 come this time next year. I want to be able to qualify for Loretta Lynn's one more time and also be able to be competitive locally one more time before it is too late. WOOT WOOT!!!!!! also do not tell my wife!!!!
