Rider Updates

Feb 27 2011

Being round 1, we had the awards banquet saturday night for the 2010 season. Banquet went really well with lots of give aways. For my year end award, i got an embroidered Fly Patrol riding jacket, with my name and, of course, Team RiderDown stitched on.

Race turn out was good, with 135 bikes in the main event and (on sat.)54 ATVs. Unfortunately, i had some last minute parts issues(intake valve stems too long, FMX brand) and wasn't able to compete sunday. But, things worked out for the best in the end, because the race ended up being a mudfest and, well, you really need 2 outriggers for that. Which i don't have. So, if my bike had been running, i would've had to either race and beat the absolute snot outta myself, or bow out. I've never been good at the bowing out thing, so i'll go with mechanical problems as my final answer. Lol!

My son, Reagen, did well in his race in the Schoolboy class-Placing 7 outta 17 after getting stuck and logged the second fastest lap for the class. Course had lotsa hills, lotsa mud, lotsa ruts, lotsa roots and even a few rocks. We have been working on his dead engine start and launches, and it paid off. He was first off the line, but lost the holeshot trying to navigate the grease.

Reagen came off the track after @80 minutes in one peice, enthused and loving his bike. It was great to see and talk to the racing family and actually watch my son ride for a change.

For a race i didn't even compete in, i still chalk it up as a big success. Lotsa fun!
