Personal History
I LOVE MOTORCYCLES!!!! That pretty much sums me up, but seriously, I do love motorcycles. I started going to tracks up in New England with my pops right outta the womb. I was riding a PW50 before my 3rd birthday and racing at 6 years old. Still remember that, Riderhill, Vermont, had to have my dad push me up the hill every lap...good times. Grew up racing motocross and TT out in eastern NM, west Texas. Did the amateur nationals we could afford growing up, usually 1 or 2 a year. Got my pro license at the ripe old age of 16 and headed to the nationals. Raced Millville and Steel City Outdoor Nationals in 01, had a bad 2002, then raced the Phoenix SX in 2003. I started Motorcycles Mechanics Institute a few months out of graduating high school. I tried to keep racing but the 40hr a week job and 25 hours a week of school really threw the jake brake in that program. I kept riding and doing the local races at Speedworld, Canyon, Thrasherland, etc. Stopped racing professionally after the Phoenix SX to focus on paying bills instead of accumulating them. Started working for racing family's as a personal mechanic/trainer/driver/babysitter cause I knew I had to be in the racing industry.
Which brings us to the present day Sean Vilandry. I am currently an Endurance Test rider for Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. in Irvine, Ca. I like to ride about everyweekend, trying to squeeze in some supermoto or roadrace track days when I can. Love hotrods and 60's style choppers, surfing, and hanging out at the HOT ROD CHURCH on sundays. I truly love this entire sport of motorcycling and can't see it ever changing.
Riding Goals
This coming year I would like to do A LOT more racing. This past year has been pretty rough for those of us working in the industry and my racing funds were pretty non-existant. This year I would like to do the Adelanto GP, 6 and 12hr of Glen Helen, ANY 2 stroke races(especially the 2 stroke nat'l).
Mainly I want to get back into racing some more. Its nearly impossible to commit to anything with the travel I do for my job, but I definently have the itch for some holeshots!
Competitive Highlights
Well this year has been very slow for me. I recently raced the industry class at the Cahuilla Worcs race this June and annialated both of my competitors...yea i know, pretty funny. I did a local Starwest race and won the 450 pro in April.
Some of my past Highlights include winning the Pro Circuit Regional Fall Classic series back in 2001 in the 125 pro class. Several top 10 finishes in Regional Arenacross from 2000 to 2002 in 125 and 250 pro classes. Racing the Ironman class at the 12 Hours of Glen Helen was also a pretty gnarly memory, one of the hardest things I've ever done.
