Personal History
From the time he could walk Sean has been on a Strider balance bike. As soon as Sean turned three he went straight to a 12" bmx bike with no training wheels. He has since progressed enough to be on a micro mini BMX race bike, riding in the 5 and under class at the local track one night a week. Sean is currently on a KDX50, which had to undergo some modifications to lower the rear-end enough for him to reach the ground.
My wife and myself have both been raised around the motorsports industry, we are continuously "wowed" by the motor-skills and reactions of Sean on a dirtbike. One of the first occasions was the first time Sean made a lap and came back to where we were standing and we noticed he was backing off the throttle and easily pulling the front brake to come to a stop. Honestly, I know quite a few adults that would struggle with that task of reaching for a brake while backing off of a twist throttle.
Recently while at Motoland MX on the pee-wee track, Sean encountered a situation where there were 2 different berms for the same corner. As he came up over the jump before the turn, the kid in front of him crashed on the inside berm, without hesitating Sean cut over to the outside berm and continued on. At three years old that is a split second decision to change lines.
As we all know though, talent isn't everything. You have to have love and passion for this sport. I have honestly never met another 3 year old that will carry a conversation all about motocross tracks, berms, jumps, dirtbikes, RZRs, dunes, toyhaulers, etc. If it has tires and an engine Sean wants to know how it works and of coarse why it works that way. Let me remind you, Sean is 3 and that is every 3 year old's favorite question, "why, why, why?".
My reason for writing is simple, my son has a passion for riding and we as parents want to do everything possible to help him progress in this industry!
