Personal History
I am Sam Martin, and I am aspiring to be a professional motocross racer. I live in the St. Cruz Mts. where I was born. I love everything about the Cali motocross life. I have been riding motocross since I was 10. I am an only child. My mother is American and my father is French.
I train four to five days a week on the bike. I am presently riding 205 Supermini intermediate - expert class. I am very passionate about dirk bike riding and motocross in particular. I have done off road enduro racing as well, but I have come to find that motocross is my preference.
My parents are my biggest supporters. They devote themselves and work very hard to make it possible for me to ride. My dad is a former soccer player and coach and my mom a former triathlete and is also certified in sports nutrition. We make a great team. My parents and I work out together as well in our home gym as well as outdoors.
I am a freshman this year in high school. I finished out last year with a 3.0-3-5 grade point average.
Riding Goals
My riding goals are to compete in national races this coming year. I qualified both for Loretta taking 1st place in 2015 at the Qualifier, as well as for Mammoth. I suffered an injury and was unable to do Mammoth and also unable to do the Regional qualifier for Loretta. I plan to continue to do as many races as I can to gain the most experience at racing. I ride with Garrahan Off Road racing and have for 3 years. I ride with owner Brian Garrahan couple times a week. He is my mentor and good friend.
My family and I plan to ride all around California as well as travel to other states this year. I also am planning to ride in France on our next visit.
Competitive Highlights
Some highlights include 1st place at my last race which was the AMP GFI Fall Series race at Hollister GP. I took 1st in Supermini 2 and 4th in Supermini 1. This is a KTM Cash contingency race. High level of competition.
Other highlights were at Milestone MX in Los Angeles, first time at the track, took a 1st in the 85 age group class, REM Saturday Series Final, 1st place 85 age group, Saturday Summer Series, 2015, 3rd 85 age group, 2nd place 85 open
