Personal History

Twenty-one year old Queen's University student who'd rather be riding then anywhere else in the world.

I began riding dirt bikes when I was only 5 years-old. I grew up riding old Honda trail bikes from the 1970s but did not begin racing motocross until the age of 14. After seven years of racing I can still vividly remember my first race, I spent more time on the ground then I did on the bike, but I somehow fell in love with the sport and could not imagine my life without it.

The summer of 2011 was by far one of the toughest times I have had to deal with. At the beginning of the season I broke a small bone in my arm, and a few weeks after getting the cast off I landed a jump wrong and severely shattered my right ankle. After three surgeries, two weeks in the hospital, seven months in a cast, and two full years of physiotherapy, I am back racing at a level I can be proud of.

Although it was a horrible experience, getting back on the bike and continually improving, considering the pain and minimal range of motion in my ankle, is proof that I have the drive to excel in this sport. Motocross is an addiction I am proud to have. It teaches lessons you cannot learn anywhere else and allows you to meet some of the nicest and raddest people around.
