Personal History
My name is Ryan Vance, I live in south western PA a little outside of Pittsburgh. I've had a passion for motorcycles since I was a kid, mostly because of my dad. He has ridden most of his life and was able to share his passion with me at an early age. As soon as I was able to we would go out on sundays and ride all day. As I grew up the riding changed from dirtbikes into streetbikes and street and trail bikes. I've recently gotten back into dirtbikes and racing. Racing has become something that I love. I still ride with my dad as much as he wants to get out. I work with quite a few people that ride and have gotten to be good friends with most of the people I ride with. Actually they got me to try my first harescramble a few years ago and I've been hooked since.
Riding Goals
My riding goals are to keep loving it and to be able to ride when I'm an old man (I'm 27 now). Eventually i'd like to have a family and teach my kids about motorcycles and how much fun they can be. For now, I plan to keep racing and honing my skills. I'm a confident rider now but I know there's always room for improvement. I try to learn as much as I can from more experienced on and off the bike. This year was my first year racing a whole season and it was great. The season is over now but I was very happy with my progress and results for the year. I ended up getting 4th in my class (XC-1C). I plan on racing again next year. I want to do the AWRCS series and try some enduros. Generally any kinds of woods riding is what i like to ride and race in.
Competitive Highlights
2015 was my first full season of racing. I competed in the AWRCS hare scramble series in class XC-1C. I was happy with the way this year ended with my 4th place finish. I was behind 3rd by a single point. Next year I'm planning on racing the same series again in addition to some other local events.
