Personal History
My name is Ryan Macdonald and I’ve been racing just this season. I’ve been riding in general for about four years and I started out on a Yamaha TTR 225 dirt bike. I moved to a Honda 400ex quad and now to my Honda 450r quad. I try not to let all the other riders get to me because my bike is all stock except the tires but I try my best to hang with them. I'm in the top ten in points in my class, 4 Stroke C and I usually finish mid to front of the pack. I like to work on my own things because I like to learn how it works. I think if you know how the bike works you can become a much better rider knowing what the bikes doing and what it wants to do. I want to go to school for motorcycle mechanics at Wyotech in Pennsylvania. I love watching the other races while I’m not on the track because it helps me find faster lines and it lets you get different opinions on how the other riders go about riding the track. I try to be as helpful as I can around the track because I’ve found most people don’t actually know how to work on there own bikes and depend on the mechanic that they normally use. So I’ve met a lot of new people helping them fix their bikes when they have broken. I’m looking to start getting my quad faster so I have more of a chance when I’m racing against people with 10 thousand dollars put into there quads. Hopefully I will rebuild my motor at the end up this season and start to dial in a good suspension as soon as possible. Overall Id say I’m an easy person to get along with and fun to be around with out getting to obnoxious. I’m always open to other rider’s ideas on how to do things and I’m always there to lend a hand. That’s about it, Ryan.
Riding Goals
Since I have just stared racing, I’m hoping to be the most improved rider of the season. I want to be able to learn how to ride faster while still being in control and be able to get in the top three by the end of the season.
Competitive Highlights
I’ve always been a competitive person with anything I do but my biggest highlight so far has been my second place finish in my last race at MX 207 in Maine. I had to push extra hard and squeeze that extra bit of energy out but it was all worth it in the end to stand up there with the other top three riders and be able to earn some respect.
