Rider Updates

Dec 17 2010

Hey readers,

I am a 27 year old guy who was introduced to MX in 2008 by my father-in-law who has been riding for 45 years now. I was looking for something to replace my addiction to skiing. When I found Moto I was taken back by its difficulty. I have ridden mountain bikes all my life and competed alittle in my younger years, so naturally I thought I could pick up this sport easily. Well maybe yes, mostly no. It took me a good month before I could ride and walk the next day. Long story short, I started riding 3 times a week, sought out the faster guys and hung with them and quickly progressed and started focusing on skill and style. I came into this race season hoping for the best but understanding I was racing guys with more experience. With the drop of the flag at the Dunes race I hole shot 35 riders and never looked back, actually thats not true I looked back several times and was happy with the soulless trail immediatly behind me. I overalled that event and 2 others through out the 5 races in the four corner states and finished numero uno in the 2010 WEBE C class. I know C class is for beginners but I had two years on my bike by the end of the season. I was happy!

On to other aspects of my life. I am a Flight Nurse for San Juan Regional Air Care, 3 years deep into scraping people off the concrete and saving lives. I love it. Flying in a heli with critical patients is an adrenaline rush on its own. Working 12hr nights 7 on 7 off gives me the flexability to ride often and hard. My home town Farmington, NM is a riders paradise. In every direction out of town there are miles and miles of trails. Only down fall is just one MX track. Most of the time it is year round riding if you can stand the 40 degree winter rides, which I do it keeps me cool! If anyone is out this way I would love to take you on some killer trails! Till next time, Peace.
