Personal History
I have been riding since the age of 5 and racing since age 15. I started out in motocross when my dad joined the Old Timers MX association. I was racing an XR200 to start with. I soon moved to a CR250 and have been on one since, until I moved to mostly off-road racing in 2005 when I purchased my CRF450X.
I finally started winning races in my class (250 C) in 2002 and then won the Friday Night series championship for my class at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA in 2003.
In 2005 I moved to off-road riding as the cost/minute of riding was such a huge difference and I really found a more friendly group of racers. The group that I have been riding and racing with since is a great group. We are all about the same speed, and race a lot of the team races that are held in Goldendale, WA. We have won our class a number of times, and mostly it is due to very consistant riding.
Riding Goals
I have been racing in the Over 30 AM class now for a while and am near the top of the class as far as speed goes. I have been working on fitness a lot and feel that I am really set to move to the Over 40 Expert class next year.
I recently competed in my first Enduro and trophied in my class. I will be competing in a few more of those in the next year, as well as the desert/hare scrambles.
Competitive Highlights
Winning my class for the Friday Night series a few years back was very exciting. I received a trophy that is taller than I am. I moved up to the 250 Intermediate class the following year and really picked up some speed.
Moving to hare scrambles team races in 2005 is also a highlight for me. I have a great core group of guys that I ride and race with consistently, and we make up a great team. We have won our class several times with consistency. Other teams might have 1 fast person and some a little slower, and in the end they tire and we can pull away.
In 2006 we raced the Vegas to Reno and had a great time. That is a tough race to do with the elevation changes and terrain changes. We went there and just wanted to finish, which we did, and won our class to boot!
