Personal History

Hey Everyone. My name is Richard Van Der Westhuizen and I am 21 years old. In 2005 I graduated from Highschool and since then I have been racing pretty much full time. I am from South Africa and have been racing motocross since I was 5 years old. It is my passion and I give 110% when I am on the track or in the Gym.

It wasn't until I was 14 that I won my first South African National Championship and it was in the 85cc Pro Mini Class. I also won the 125cc Schoolboy Championship in 2002 and in 2005-2006 I was the South African Open Class Champion. I have also raced all over Europe and Great Britain

Riding Goals

Well, my goals for 2008 would be to pick up my pace and my riding skill. I believe that once I do that the results will come. I want to be on the podium at every Pro-Amateur event I enter and qualify for and get top 20 in the nationals. One of my big goals for 2008 is to find a good sponsor who would support me in my journey and by doing so, I would promote them on and off the track.

Competitive Highlights

I have won four South African National Titles, one on 85cc, one on 125cc and the other two in the 450cc Open Class.

I Have raced in Europe and England and have raced in a couple of Motocross Grand Prix, my best being a 19th place finish

My first race in the states was a Texas state Championship where I finished 4th in the 250cc A class
