Personal History
Richard started racing at the age of ten and during the last eighteen years has progressed into one of Irelands best motocross riders. During his youth career, riding TM machinery supplied by Nick Craigie of CCM Racing Richard won numerous Irish and Ulster championships. At the age of sixteen Richard contested both the youth championship and the Irish ”B” adult championships and won both.
As an adult Richard continued to race and win championships at the highest level throughout Ireland and although he did participate in a number of British Championship events this was restricted due to work commitments.
The highlight of Richards’s motocross career came in 2011 when he achieved his own personal goal and was picked to represent Ireland on the motocross des nation’s team and race at Saint Jean D’Angely in France. Also during that year he won the Ulster MX1 Championship and Southern Centre Championships.
This year riding his Five5motosport/Watt 350 KTM prepared by Adrian Lappin things are progressing extremely well with Richard currently leading both the Irish and Ulster MX1 championships. Richard was delighted to support the Moato Circus charity event at Doon and said, “I really enjoyed the weekends racing at Doon and would like to thank Nick, Gavin and their team for staging such a professional and enjoyable event. This was a family event which attracted a huge turnout of spectators which added to the atmosphere. It was great to see a bit of fun being out back into the racing. I had a successful weekend winning both Motocross races and the supercross finale.”
