Personal History
ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Ranger and I'm 5 yrs old. I started riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles when I was 2 yrs old. I have had several model dirt bikes testing which one works for me. Currently I have a 2009 KTM mini o/i to race the 50 SS class and I will be riding a 2010 KTM 50 JR on the big track. My dad has his own business wrenching on dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and RC trucks so if you're looking for me you won't find me playing in my room or watching TV. I spend most of my time out in my dad's shop wrenching with him. Most days we finish up and ride dirt bikes around our property. From the time I could walk and talk I wanted to race....motocross in the summer and snocross in the winter.
I have the best family support ever. They are all into riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles. My dad rides and races, my mom rides, my grandparents ride (they're 67 and 70 yrs old), and my uncle Kevin raced motocross nationwide. He was killed racing his dirt bike but died doing what he loved best. So my whole family is into it and we love it.
Riding Goals
Since this was my first year racing motocross my goals were to gain seat time and valuable experience needed to be one of the best upcoming riders. I started out my racing career on a PW 50 and quickly learned that I needed more suspension for the whoops and jumps. So my parents bought me a KTM 50 Jr and it was great. Then a friend of ours at the track let me ride his Cobra PW3. It was crazy fast and my lap times decreased tremendously. By July we added a Cobra CM50 Jr and I quickly became one of the fastest in the 50 Jr/Sr non-points class consistently beating Sr bikes which is why I moved up to the big track to race the 50 Jr points class. I'm learning how to get into my corners fast and power out even faster but my specialty is the whoop section, I can bonsai through them faster than anyone. I listen to everything my mom and dad tell me so I can become a better racer. They are awesome coaches and the best pit crew ever. My goal is to finish this year with the knowledge to come out in next year's season and make it to Loretta's in the 50 Jr class.
The 2010 season has now ended and I went from the beginner class wobbling around the track with both feet off the pegs to finishing 3rd overall in the 50 SS class on the pee wee track and 5th overall in the 50 Jr class on the big track. I've come a long way in just 6 months and I will only get better from here. I'm going to spend my winter racing at indoor tracks so when the 2011 outdoor season starts I will be ready to show the competition how the "Mailman" gets it done.
I hope you will consider me for sponsorship as I promise that my parents and I are as dedicated to this sport as anyone and all I want to do is race and race well.
Sincerely,
Ranger "the mailman" Flinchum #83
Competitive Highlights
This is my first year racing and I've only raced 4 weekends so far but if you go to google and search "Ranger Flinchum" you will find an article written about me by Cycle News Magazine. It highlights my first race and the 1st place finishes I had. It's pretty cool for a new guy.
Check back with me on competitive highlights. I'm sure as the year progresses there will be many.
Were half way through the season now and I've moved out of the beginner class and on to the 50 SS and the 50 Jr class and doing very well. I'm looking forward to the GLMX 2nd point series (Hostile Territories) starting in September to see I measure up in the district.
