Personal History
Hello, my name is Patrick Shortt and I have been into motocross since I was about 5 years old. Growing up I was never allowed to have a dirtbike, so I got my fix on 4 wheelers. When I turned 19 went out and bought a 1997 YZ125, learned how to ride and work on it by restoring it. I ended up selling that bike and ended up on a 2018 RMZ450 for a couple years. I moved down to Florida at the age of 24 to work for Factory Connection Suspension, because I wanted to work in the industry. I realized I missed my family and that I had other responsibilities back home and ended up moving back to Virginia on good terms, and continued back in the construction industry. At the age of 26, I have now dropped to a 2020 KX250F, and am progressing much faster on the lower cc bike. I typically ride every weekend and plan to start doing more races as time allows. I love motocross and it will always be a part of my life.
Riding Goals
My goals as a rider would be to become faster, develop natural style, and one day get fast enough to move up to B class. Planning a trip to South of The Border MX early next year to get some professional training. I also want to become more comfortable in the racing environment, and do a mixture of Motocross and Cross Country GP races. Working on riding stamina and form every time I ride to eliminate arm pump as much as possible.
Competitive Highlights
My last race was at Budds Creek Braaapmania, I finished about 21st out of 32 riders in 250 Open C, this was after not racing for about a year and a half. I finished 2nd overall and 4th overall in my first and second race ever, at Dade City Florida Open Begginner. I have honestly only competed in 3 races, and they were all within the last 2 years.
