Personal History
Hi Im Patricia Black, I am 20 years old and live in West Jordan Utah. In 2009 I will have been competing for six years. Participating in the statewide USRA series, WIld West and a few nationals. I am still shooting to turn pro, Im very focused on my goal for 2009.
I am a very outgoing and determined person, always striving to meet my personal goals. I dont know what I would do without my bikes they are the center of my fun. I do like to do other things like softball, bowling and hanging out with my friends having fun.
I have been riding since I lived in Washigton state at the age of 13. I got somewhat of a late start but that has not affected my performance. I am pretty much self taught, watching the pros like Ricky and Buba racing with a bit of extra help from the local pros. I started racing motocross when I moved to Utah in 2003 doing a local arenacross with my cousin. In 2006 I attended the Mammoth Mountain race and placed 10th in my first big amateur race. This year I placed 1st in the Desert Vipers Adelanto GP in the womens intermediate class. I have raced the GP 3 years in a row.
I am a department head at a retail store, I have worked there for 2 years now. Im a laid back kind of person who likes to get along with everyone:)
Riding Goals
I would really like to reach my goal of turning pro. Being able to race alongside the women I have admired for sometime would be the highlight of my racing career. I plan on racing the Ford Mammoth Mountain race in June. Washougal in July. I would like to return to the Adelanto GP in February but Im not sure if Im going to make it to that one. Its looking like I will be heading for the WORCS race in Mesquite at the begining of 09. I will shoot for a few of the local Heber Wintercross series during the winter time and I really want to follow the Wild West series this year.
Competitive Highlights
For the past 3 years I have raced the Adelanto GP in the womens intermediate class with this past year taking first place. In 06 I placed 10th in my first big amateur race at Mammoth. In the year of 08 every race i entered I placed either 1st or 2nd place with the exception of my last race when I was blownoff my bike by another rider and could not finish the race.
Two years ago I raced a KX 450 competetivley. I didnt have the greatest luck with the stearing situation with the 450 it made it hard to stay up in the corners, but i was told by a local pro that I rode that thing as good as the boys:) My mom made me sell her.
I feel as though I rank in the top five womens racers in the state of Utah, maybe even the top 3:) And Ive fought very hard for it.
