Personal History
I got my first motorcycle at age 10, it was a Honda XR 80 dual shock. I grew up riding the ditches, grass fields and wooded terrain year round, including winter here in Iowa. I started racing motocross/supercross in the Women's class when I was 23 yrs old in 1995. I raced locally and in the Midwest. I earned amateur national #26 in 2000 at Loretta Lynns in the Women's class and in 2001 I achieved amateur national # 20. I qualified in 2002 for Loretta Lynns but due to the death of my father I had to withdraw and make an alternates day. As the years went by I also raced the C classes and then B classes and have been racing the Vet classes ever since I turned 25. Racing with the men has made me a better competitor and the more bikes in a class, the merrier. In 2011, I won the Iowa AMA District 22 Championship in the +30B class making history in the district by being the first female to win the championship (at age 39). In 2012, I won the Iowa AMA District 22 Championship in the +40B class again making history in the district by being the first female to win the championship. In 2013, I had shoulder surgery and sat out most of the year.
Riding Goals
I ride because I love the sport and the people involved. I have one huge moto-family. I enjoy pushing myself and racing with the guys isn't all that easy. They push so hard because they don't want to get beaten by me and face their buddies. I always tell them that they will get used to it! I plan to take 2014 as a warm up for the 2015 season and then focus on the AMA District 22 Iowa Motocross Championship as well as local track championships. I would like to race the RACER X Vet Series again as well, I used to ride it and won the Women's class several times. I love to travel and ride different tracks.
Competitive Highlights
I have won several local track championships over the years in the +30B and +40B classes. My most noteworthy highlight would have to be Achieving Amateur #26 in 2000 at Loretta Lynns and in 2001 earning #20 at Loretta Lynns. Most recently, winning the AMA District 22 Iowa State Championships in the +30B in 2011 and in 2012 the +40B making history as the first woman to ever win a championship in those classes.
