Nick started riding in the fall of 2005 on a Honda 50 with NETRA. He attended 3 races during that year and found he enjoyed racing.
In June 2006 he attended Tony D’s School of Motocross at Central Village MX track in CT. He found his new passion!! He immediately joined NEMA in time to race the fall season. Nick has only missed one race since, due to an injury.
Nicks big story is his dedication and the unbelievable drive to improve. Although he only started to race Motocross in the Fall 06 series, his improvement has been significant. Those that saw him pre-Tony D’s cannot believe this is the same kid. He started his first NEMA series in 2006 in the 65C 7-11 class at Central Village placing in the bottom 23rd/24th 35+ riders, however, in his first four months worked his way up to finish top 10 his first season.
He came 2nd in the Spring NEMA 65C class series 2007 and moved to the B class for the fall. He took 3rd place in the 65B fall series. Spring and fall 2008 he took first place in the 65B class.
In spring 2008 Nick began to ride the 85C 7-11 class, Nick was small for the bike, but did well taking a 4th in the 85C Spring series. Nick just finished 1st in the 85C for NEMA. His final race he blew the class away – amazing finish.
He attended two final races in 2008 as an 85B rider – finishing 9th at the Winchester Speedpark and then again at a NEMX race taking 2nd place.
He finished 4th in the New England Regional’s in the 65B class, took the podium twice. He won the 2008 NEMA championship in the 85C 7-11 class and also the 65B class. He has moved up to the 85B class, with two successful races to close out the year.
Nick practices at a track in Rocky Hill in CT. He traveled to Florida and South Carolina for an extended winter break the past two years. This year he is traveling to South Carolina again and will then drive to Georgia to attend MTF. He gets some practice at the indoor track in Connecticut - MotoTown USA. Nick attended the pro-school in Hemonds, ME the past two years in conjunction with the New England Classic.
Nick is now a sponsored team rider of Coastline Motorsports in Old Saybrook, CT and also a team rider of X-PRO in Portland, CT.
Nick’s goal this year is to take 1st place on his new ’09 KTM at Regions and move to the Expert class for the fall series. He will race in the Loretta Lynn’s pre-qualifiers at Southwick, CT. He will race a combined 85B (7-15) class with NEMA this year and would like to see a top 5 finish for the spring. He will also begin to race the Junior Mini. Nick also plans to race the Winchester Series this year more consistently. With his father being a referee and on the board of NEMA, the NEMA series races take priority.
Nick is passionate about motocross he has come a long way in a short period of time; he makes progress every time he gets on the bike, and loves it!!
