Personal History

My name is Michaela Thomas and i live in marysville CA. I have been riding since i was 3 and racing since 7 years old. I ride every week and race almost every weekend. I grew up racing with OTHG. These last couple years i have been progressing more and more. Last year i did the AMA hangtown shootout for the first time. I started on a 50 to 110,125 to my first race bike as a 150 then to my 250. This year i’m also doing mammoth and working hard and training for next years lauretta lynn’s. Other then riding i spend all my time in school and on the farm. I’m currently in 9th grade about to become a sophomore. I take school very seriously and strive to keep good grades. Both my parents are in the Air Force so i was raised to do my best and want to get into a good college. I’ve been in 4-h , which is an agricultural based club, since a baby and started FFA this year. i continue to raise animals with both 4-h and FFA through out my high school years.

Riding Goals

My riding goals for this year are is to practice to make lauretta’s and mammoth top 5. As i progress i want to do bigger races and hopefully get sponsored so it’s easier to get out to bigger races and travel more. The biggest struggle for me in riding is corners so every time i’m out practicing i focus on that. For me it’s harder to train then a lot of kids i know because my parents, they both race too but aren’t as competitive as i am. I’m faster then them to do it’s hard for them to teach me things. I do lessons with Tom Lampson, Brian Garrahan, and this summer with Daniel Blair. As i get older i have more responsibility’s and so i work some weekends flagging to make practice and race money. My main goal is to come back every year faster then before and keeping it on 2 wheels and every year my goal will change to something bigger and better.

Competitive Highlights

I have done many races and this past year has by far been the most competitive. First with my AMA hangtown race. I also won championship with the REP racing summer night series and with the MMX night series. I didn’t make it to any mammoth qualifiers this year but still signed up and going. I race with a lot of the girls who are going and compare lap times so i have an idea of what i’m racing against. Im really excited to see what comes in the future.
