Personal History
I'm Garrett Wilson and I live in Julian, NC. I have been riding for seven years, but I just started racing in the fall of 2008. I have riden on a CRF 50, XR 100, CRF 230, and now my first two stroke, a 2005 CR 85 Expert. I am 12 years old and an A student in the 7th grade. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I ride my dirt bikes every chance I get. We recently made a track at my house that I practice my skills on. I have an older cousin who helps me. He has raced since 2004 and we practice together every weekend. I just completed my third race and placed 5th. It was an awesome feeling and I can't wait to race again.
December 2008 and January 2009 I raced in my first AMA races. I place 3rd at Sand Hill MX in Chesterfield, SC and 2nd at Windy Hill in Ellerbe, NC. I loved every minute of it. After going to school all week long I love to spend my entire weekend racing my dirt bike at different tracks. I work hard to maintain my A average especially in my Advanced Learner classes, so when the weekend comes, I want to ride, ride, and ride some more.
Riding Goals
I hope to get better at motocross, obtain some sponsors, and win a race. I want to ride smart and not get seriously injured.
Competitive Highlights
I have only raced three times, but November 22, 2008 has been my best. I placed 4th in the first moto and 5th in the second moto, for a final place of 5th. This race was full of excitement as I passed a fellow competitor in a turn. It was so cool. I also began jumping more of the gaps. I love the power of a two stroke. I enjoy the chance to race and learn more about myself and my bike. Also, in my second race I was first out of the gate in the first moto and I held 3rd place for almost a lap.
I have now received another 5th place and went on to race two AMA races in December 2008 and January 2009. I placed 3rd overall in December. In January I was first in my first moto and 3rd in my second moto, so I finished 2nd overall. What an experience. I love it.
