Personal History

My name is Michael Mathis and am 39 years old.  I have been married to a Beautiful supportive wife for almost 20 years.  I have 2 great sons which share my love for Motocross.  The sport has brought us all closer together as a family.  Sebastian is 14 and is getting more into the Motocross Scene and my 10 year old, Caleb, has decided to all but retire but will ride occasionally.  My family bears our adventures even with the great financial sacrifice.  Through riding, I have also developed a small group of close riding friends which we started a small team called Poor Boy Racing and can be found on Facebook.

Riding Goals

I would like to race more tracks and a more regular schedule.  A highlight would be to make a LLQ to see where I stand against some other area riders.  I would love to get help in any sort of way to share or reduce costs.

Competitive Highlights

I started riding motorcycles at the age of 9 and started racing at the age of 10.  I raced in District 14 in Michigan against Brian Swink, John Kitch, and the infamous Mike LaRocco. I raced the 65 and 85 classes and finished 4th and 5th in the district.  I was also fortunate enough to race in the AMA amatuer Supercross in the Pontiac Silverdome, in Michigan.  I moved to Tennessee at the age of 15 and quit racing.  At the age of 30 after a 15 year Hiatus I bought a used 2000 KX 250.  I found a local track and began racing again in 2009.  The track is called DTrack Motocross in Milton, KY and it ran a 9 race series and a Winter Mini Series.  I finished the first season taking first place in both the 30+ Class and the 250 2stroke/450 4stoke C class.  Last year due to budget cuts(I was paying for my two boys to race as well) I reduced my classes to just one and chose the 30+ Class and finished the season in 2nd.  As of so far this year I am the points leader in the 30+ Class.
