Personal History
There isn't even options for me to choose Hillclimb and I am not able to input my correct bike........please read my story!!!!
Got my first dirt bike when I was around 12, while trying to find a place to ride we came across a family of hillclimbers. After riding together for a couple of months they invited me to a climb and after my first pass up the hill I was hooked. That all began in 2014 and now after all these years I have 5 National Ametuer Championship titles and too many to list State Championship titles from West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. With hillclimb there is quite a bit of traveling due to it not being as big as motocross which I as well do in between hillclimbs. In 2019 when I turned 16, I obtained a Provisional Pro license which allowed me to enter four Pro races in the schedule. For my first year I did pretty good with a 4th place in the 450 class and we also had an unlimited class and I was able to get a 9th in that. My unlimited bike is a 2004 GSXR 1000 motor on a custom built chassis, and it screams. In 2020 I was going to go full pro but Covid took over and most races were cancelled. I kept my provisional and raced Devils Staircase in October where I was able to get a 2nd place finish on my 450 and 6th on my 1000.
Currently the only sponsors I have are my parent and grandparents. We never tried in the past to obtain sponsors but are getting to the point where we do need a little help. My parents both work and we do ok but they pour everything they have into my racing. Neither of them drive new cars nor do I and we try to save all winter for the summer race schedule. I appreciate all the sacrifices they make to help me with my dreams.
Update....it is now 2023 and I have geared more towards motocross. I tried my hand at making Loretta Lynn's, made it regionals at Redbud and placed 17th. I do plan on trying again next year. I still do the Pro Hillclimb just not all the races as motocross has become more important to me.
Riding Goals
I plan on making another run for Loretta Lynn's in 2024!
Competitive Highlights
Ametuer racing was super fun but the Pro side is amazing. The smell of nitro methane will knock you out and the sound of those stretched out bikes screaming up the hill is crazy. One of my favorite classes is verti-cross which is side by side action racing up the hill, first to the top wins. That class is for the 450's and it is a major crowd favorite and gets me pumped up every time. In a few of my Pro races I was able to beat some serious players who have been in the hillclimb game for years.
Do yourself a favor and youtube Devils Staircase 2020 or just AMA Pro Hillclimb and check it out. For an even bigger thrill, look up Poages Hole......I was able to make it up on my 450 in verticross winning my first round at 16, which was my first time ever being on the hill.
No practice laps at hillclimb, just get it and hit it.....
