Personal History

From: Va Beach, VA
Riding Since: 1988

At the age of 7 I watched a group of older kids ride in a local field. I got my first bike in 1984 and rode in that same field for 4 years before entering my first race in 1988. I raced the 80 14-15 class at ECMX in Elizabeth City, NC. I finished and was completely addicted. I haven't stopped since.

Highlights
Moved to the 125 C class in 1990 and up to A in 1993. I raced mostly local and regional events just about every weekend. Along the way I won a handful of state championships and several points series. My most memorable came in 1995 when I won the Maryland state championship in the open A class.  I put my racing aside for a couple of year to concentrate on my new career. I got hired on with the Portsmouth, VA fire department in march 1997 and I returned to racing in the VET class in early 2000, only to take another break to concentrate on my career path. I was promoted through the ranks reaching my life time goal of captain in September of 2012.  I am also a rescue specialist with FEMA Task Force 2, an urban search and rescue team based out of Va Beach. With most of my career goals met it is now time to get back to racing and meeting my race goals of top 20 at Loretta Lynn's.  I have been riding and racing on a part time basis for the last few years with my biggest recent accomplishments coming at the 2015 Fire/Police World games that were held at Budds Creek motocross park in MD.  I ran up front in all my motos and finished in the top after a couple of falls.

Riding Goals

Looking forward to racing the +35 and +40 classes in Virginia district 13. I am currently leading the VA points series in the +40 and +35 classes.

My short term goals will consist of finishing out the VA and NC points series in both +35 and +40 classes and to capture both titles.  I will also race the North Carolina State championship in April, Ohio Fire/Police national in June, and the Maryland State championship in October.

Long term sees me finishing out the year in VA D13 racing and preparing myself for nationals in 2019.  I will race 4 major nationals in 2019 in the +40 and +45 classes.

2018 also sees me racing with my son, Keller.  Keller will race the series with me as he chases his first points championship on a 50.
