Personal History
My name is Matthew Richards and I’ve been riding for 2 years. Before that I had a crf 70 and I rode it around my yard. I didn’t start riding and training until last year. I got a 2019 kx 85 for Christmas and I rode it around all Christmas Day. I had so much fun and I really wanted to try the track. I went to tomahawk West Virginia. It was a muddy mess and I couldn’t even ride the actual track. I messed around and the weekend after that I went to Doublin gap for practice. I had so much fun and I kept practicing every weekend. I showed up for the Travis Pastrana Pro Challenge LLQ. I didn’t know at the moment what a Loretta Lynn Qualifier was. We showed up and their were hundreds of people their. I was very scared about lining up and my mom watched me put my gloves on and she said my hands were shaking like theirs no tomorrow. I got through it and did pretty good. I’m still racing and I hope to get better and do better at my races. I would really enjoy some help for parts, and gear. I love to race but I need to get more involved with sponsors and other riders.
Riding Goals
I plan to make it to regionals in 2021. I want to attempt to make it to lorretas, but I don’t think that’s going to happen on an 85. I want to make it into the regionals, but first qualify and the qualifiers. I am going to attend every race that I possibly can. I need to get more time battling with kids a little bit above my skill level.
Competitive Highlights
I got 1st in the PAMX 85 12-15 C
I am currently in 11th for the MDRA series.
