Personal History
My name is Matthew McCoy and I am 30 years old living in Spokane Washington. I am a freestyle motocross rider and I am sorely focused on that type of riding. I have been riding freestyle on and off for 13 years and I love it. In 2005 I broke my back while riding and took time off to heal and was surprised at how fast the sport progressed while I was unable to ride. When I returned to the sport I was so far behind that I was playing catch up to try to break into pro contests and eventually the financial burden took its toll and I had to sell my bikes and resume the 9-5 lifestyle which drove me nuts. I had my daughter in 2012 and for the next couple years I focused on her well being as well as my own and worked as hard as possible to ensure financial stability and finally bought a few bikes to resume riding. This year I hired a personal trainer and started riding again and I quickly knocked off the rust and I was able to do everything that I could several years ago, but I was able to do the tricks better and smoother than before due to my commitment at the gym on my days off from riding. With my new found motivation and support I know that I can still ride at a high level, but its not going to be easy because of how fast this sport progresses and the commitment it takes. All I know is that I love this sport and I'm going to push myself everyday that I ride to progress my skills and regardless of how bad I have been hurt I cannot walk away from this sport, It is part of me and It has given me some of my best memories along with my worst, but these experiences have help shape me as a person.
Riding Goals
I understand a lot of people look at age as a determining factor for what someone can accomplish, but I don't believe in that because In my situation I would be considered old for my sport but I am in the best shape I have ever been and I take a logical approach to learning new tricks or anything involved with riding for that matter. With that being said I believe My riding goals are realistic and obtainable for me. Obviously I want to ride in the biggest competitions possible such as X fighters and X games but that will be a year or two down the road. Realistically my goals are to ride in as many Demos and contest ( Pro or amateur) as possible to not only spread my name for future growth in the sport, but for the companies supporting me as well.

I was invited to ride in the IFMA in the Spokane arena, but was not able to due to an injury sustained practicing for the event.
