Personal History

My name is Matthew Lane, I am 7 years old. I am from a small town in Pennsylvania with big dreams to go far in the sport of racing. I got my first bike, a 2007 Yamaha 50cc, when I was 4 years old. I started racing in May of 2008 in the WNYOA Hare Scramble series (Western New York Off-Road Association), a series that runs from May 2nd until October 10th. I race for 45 minutes in the morning unless it is a national race which then turns into an hour race, rain or shine. I race on tracks ranging anywhere from 1 to 2 miles through tough woods, mud, tree roots, rocks, down hill, up hill climbs and very rarely a grass track. During the time I have been racing I have won the Peewee Jr. 4 class and Peewee 5 year old class. In the Peewee 4 class, I won with 9; first place wins out of 14 races and 3 second places. Finishing over all in first place with the most point you can accumulate in that series, as 205. I also achieved 6 foot tall first place trophy and a survivor award for competing and completing all 14 races of the year against four riders. In 2009, I started racing in the Peewee 5 class, riding a Cobra 50cc. During the 2009 season I accumulated 205 points, with 11 first place wins out of 15 races, also earning another 6 foot first place trophy and survivor award for competing and completing the entire season against six riders. Starting the 2010 series in the Peewee 6 class, on a Cobra 50cc, I now have entered a class with a lot more competition and more riders. In this class, I am now competing against fourteen riders with a lot of experience. With two races left in this year’s series, I am leading in points with 191 points, hoping to reach 205. I have five wins this year so far with hopes of gaining two more from the last two races. I started the year on my Cobra but I have recently started racing a 2011 KTM 50 SX with hopes of getting more power and speed for the competition in my class. As most of you know, Cobras are rarely seen racing hare scrambles. With a lot of complications during the two years I have rode both of my Cobras; I have had to deal with clutch and over heating problems, which lead to my decision of riding KTM for the rest of the season with hopes of not facing the same problems.  I practice daily after school rather it’s going out and practicing on a track or just practicing my starts to earn the hole shot. This year has been a lot more competitive for me with more riders but I am out there with the mind set and dedication to myself and family that supports me, to win not only for myself but them also. I am a normal seven year old boy with the heart and dream to make it big in this sport. All support and feed back is much appreciated.
