Personal History
My name is Taylor Kershaw and I am the sister of Mason Kershaw. I am creating this profile, instead of Mason himself, for a few reasons. The first reason is Mason is currently away and training for the upcoming 2014 Loretta Lynn's Championship and therefore could not create this profile. The second reason is that even though he knows the most about his goals and talent, he would leave out details that are important to his story.
Mason started racing at the age of four and competed at Loretta Lynn's for the first time in 2005 in the 51cc 4-6 class. He finished in 18th place and did not return to Loretta's until the summer of 2012 in the Mini Sr. Stock class. His return, while exciting, was also disappointing for Mason because he was not expecting the competition or the weather conditions and ended up pulling off the track during one of his mottos. Since that summer Mason has been training with a Cross Fit instructor multiple times a week to insure that his body is prepared for the 20+ minute mottos and the July heat. Mason also competed at Loretta's for his third time in 2013 in the Mini Sr. Stock and Modified classes. Weeks before it was time to leave for the championship, Mason's father and mechanic developed an eye condition that left him unable to work on his bikes for no longer than 15 minutes at a time. He experienced bike malfunction leading up to Loretta's and also while he was competing in the championship. He ended up finishing in the back of the pack although he managed to pull a few top ten hole shots.
Mason is now riding better and training harder than I have ever seen him ride and train. He is constantly working out and riding at different tracks to mix up the competition and I have no doubt that he will compete at a much higher level than he has at the previous championships.
Riding Goals
To train and ride every week so that his endurance and speed increases to be able to compete against the best.
