Personal History
Hi, my name is Martin Castelo and I’m 17 years old. I was born in Ecuador, South America and started racing motocross when I was 5 years old and started racing two weeks later, me and my dad soon started traveling all around our country for national races. At the age of 7 we decided to take things a little more seriously and decided to race Latin American championships, my first year doing this was on 2003 we got 5th overall in the 51cc 7-8 class, this was just the beginning, after that we started racing that championship every year and the Ecuadorian nationals too, I got my first Latin-american title when I was 11 years old in 2006 at Colombia. Last year we decided to take things a little more serious and due to the low resources of our country and the lack of support for sports we decided to come to America to race and train. It has always been my biggest dream to come over here and race against the best in the sport and give my 100% to it to see how far I can get. We chose MTF (Millsaps Training Facility) for me to live and train. My first race here was the first round of the Florida Gold Cup Series, I did alright got a 2nd in 250 all, and two 4th s in 250B and Schoolboy 2. After that I suffered an Collarbone injury and had to get surgery 3 weeks before Mini O’s I was just able to ride a week before the national and went through a lot of pain the whole week, my best finish was a 6th overall in the Schoolboy 2 class in outdoors. We had a pretty good off season of training and preparing for the spring nationals, unfortunately I reinjured my collarbone again a month before Mill Creek but still raced and finished with a 9th and a 10th overall in both 250B stock and mod classes. We are planning to race Loretta Lynn’s this year and the Winter Olympics and keep the ball rolling for the 2014 season. We can’t do it by ourselves so we are looking for people who want to help us make my dream come true. Thank you for your time!
