Personal History
My name is Mark, I’m 22 and I have been riding for 2 years now and I love being able to go fast and hit jumps the best I can. I still consider myself a fairly new rider and I know the chances of my learning and knowledge of the sport will continue to grow and get better as I practice and race more. I was one of those kids who could not afford to do sports of my interest because they were very costly. As I started getting more money from my job, I put 90% of my paycheck to riding, I don't put all the money into it because I have to but because I love the sport so much I want to put everything in it that I can.
Riding Goals
My goals for this year is to be able to race and practice (i.e. be on the track) as much as I can every week. I would love to be able to make myself as fast as possible and to be able to prove to my parents that this sport is for me even though it is dangerous at times. My parents support me in every way they can even if I beat myself up over a mistake I make. I am a good rider, however I want to be a fantastic rider that other beginner riders can look up to and ask for help whenever they need it.
Competitive Highlights
Some of my competitive highlights would be racing against my brother trying to beat him. He helps me correct things I do wrong and tells me how to do it better. One race my brother and I were racing against each other and he cross rutted and almost took me out, but in the process he ended up taking himself out and after that I ended up taking 2nd place in that race. Another one of my highlights was a funny yet sad mistake I made at the starting gate, it was my very first race and I was nervous and I didn’t know there was a staggered started and I was supposed to go on the second gate drop but I ended up taking off on the first gate and that race I took 1st place and I was very excited and proud that my hard work and tons of practice was paying off. My brother then came up to me and said I have good news and bad news. The good news was he said I did fantastic and I was starting to look very good, then the bad news was I was disqualified because I raced in a different class than what I had signed up for. My brother knew I was upset, but at the same time I was because it was only my first race I have ever done.
