Personal History
Born in South Africa I grew up riding dirt bikes in the wild open country. I never raced when I was younger but spend every moment I could riding my bike through the bushveld. I rode until I joined the Military in 1987. With the political unrest in South Africa in the late 80's I decided to come to America. I have spent 22 years working and carving out a life for me and my family here in America. Now that I finally achieved "Living the American dream" status it was time to reward myself with a long lost passion for riding motorcycles in the dirt.
I started riding with a buddy down in Tampa, met up with a crazy group of racers that called themselves '' Team Wanker ". Here I found a sense of purpose. With this loosely organised band of hooligans and rocket surgeons I started my late racing career. My children now have bikes and ride like I used to when I was young. I see the sparkle in their eyes and recognize the nervous anticipation when we fire up the bikes.
My only regret in life is the twenty some years i spent without a bike.
Riding Goals
I started off in Senior C for Hare Scrambles and Enduros last year to "ease" myself into racing, surprisingly I finished 3rd. in my class for the year. I only raced 5 races. This inspired me, so I hit the gym. Work out after work out, riding ( training) on weekends. I own two businesses and my spare time is at a premium. Im getting faster and placing in the top 4 in every race. My goal is to finish first in my class this season for Enduro's and bump up a class for next season. Im aiming for A super Senior for 2016.
My goal is to see my kids practice and start racing, both girls and they rip!.
This year I will attend most all of the FTR enduro's , First race is in 3 weeks!. Little Brown Jug Enduro in Union South Carolina. Its a National.
Competitive Highlights
First ride on a dirt bike in 22 years was FTR Croom Enduro. My new KTM had 3.6 Hrs on it and I finished 3rd.
Got some 4ths and 2nds but managed to finish 3rd place Senior C for the FTR enduro season 2013.
