Personal History
My name is Pua Hoomanawanui and I recently started racing again. I am 35 years old and work as a Semi Tractor Trailer driver here in Hawaii. As a young girl, I started racing at the age of 9 on a '87 KX125. My dad was my brother's and my mechanic and mentor! At the age of 11, I was the top contender in the 125 Novice class! My accomplishments as a child include winning the end of the year championships for the Novice class in 1990, followed by a 125 Amateur/Intermediate Championship in 1991. By the age of 14, I was racing against my own brother in the 125 Expert class. Injuries hindered me for the next two seasons and after graduating in 1996, I decided to stop racing. Now at the age of 35, I have regained that competetive spirit!
Riding Goals
My dream as a young girl was always to compete against the best women racers in the industry. I may be a little older than the competition, but it is still a goal of mine to compete against the best!
