Rider Updates

Apr 2 2014

I'm in college now, and I find free time to be a scarcity, so the decision has been made to take a hiatus from motocross. It's been a difficult decision to reach- I've been riding for 10 years now. However, it doesn't make financial sense to keep my bike, when I only have an opportunity to ride a handful of times each year, so i plan to move to the street for a while.

I'd also like to take a moment to thank everyone who's helped me through the last couple of years. Obviously, I'll start with God. Without Him, none of this would have been possible. Next, I'd like to thank my parents for sticking with me and dealing with those early mornings, and also for instilling in me a good work ethic. I also want to give my thanks to the folks over at 100% Optics, O'neal, and Leatt for keeping me safe and looking good over the last two years. It's been really cool to have gotten on with 100% when they came back to the sport, and now to see mostly their goggles at the local areas. I also want to thank the good people at DeCal Works, Pro Taper, Cycra, and Twin Air for keeping my bike looking and running fresh. I'm even going to throw in a thank you to all of the folks at the companies who sent me contract offers that I declined. I would have loved to have been able to accept those contracts, but they often conflicted with other contracts. Even so, the offers helped give me the confidence needed to push myself to new levels. And for that, I thank you all.

It's been great to see how I've grown and improved over the last two years, and I'm proud to be associated with everyone who's helped me get to where I am today.

Thanks again for all of the support, everyone. You're all wonderful!

Sparky's Cycle Ranch was a great race. Practice was cool- I got to ride with Zach Osborne and Kaileb Russell. First moto went well enough. I started near the front of the midpack, and ended 6th, if memory serves. Second moto was pretty tough. I got a similar start, and made a couple of early passes, but couldn't catch 4th place. It's really disappointing, because I know I should have, but I couldn't hold on- college is wearing me down.

I'd like to thank all of my sponsors who support me at DeCal Works Graphics, O'neal Motocross, Leatt Brace, Pro Taper, Twin Air, and 100% Optics. Your support has been appreciated, and I will try to hit one or two more races before the end of this year.

Well, it seems that (almost) everything sorts itself out. The race has been cancelled for Sunday due to the weather, so I won't be racing still tired from prom.

Just got a letter from Kennesaw State University a couple of days ago, and I am apparently in the top 5% of the entering freshman class for the upcoming semester, so I just thought I'd share that. On another note, this weekend is prom weekend for me, and there is a race scheduled for Sunday at Highland Park for the Best in Georgia series.

Meant to put this up a while ago, and haven't gotten around to it until now. I placed 22nd in state level competition for computer problem solving and 17th in state level competition for economics in FBLA.

Qualified for state-level competition in Economics for FBLA by placing 5th at region-level competition.

So, this Saturday (11/3), I'll be participating in my FBLA chapter's Day of Merit, where we help Boy Scouts earn their merit badges. This is one of our fundraisers, and the second time I'll be participating. we usually draw Boy Scouts from several states, and it's quite fun. Just posting this as a heads-up for anyone looking at my profile.

The race course was incredibly tough today, mainly silt and rocks. There were long downhills of nothing but rock, with decent-sized drop-offs of maybe 2 or 3 feet into off-camber corners, immediately leading into uphill rock fields, and uphill switchbacks made of pure silt. To be honest, I'm not at all ashamed of my 18th-place finish.

The race was amazing yesterday. Perfect track conditions, and 42 riders in my class overall to finish 11th.
